Keys To Having A Great Road Trip!

Taking your European vehicle on a road trip this summer?

Whether you’re planning to visit somewhere in our great state, like Mackinac Island, Ann Arbor, Holland, Frankenmuth, or Grand Rapids, or you’re journeying across the country, we at Advanced Auto Sports in Farmington Hills want you to have a great time!

That’s why we’ve put together a list of ways you can make your road trip great. Before you leave the Farmington Hills area and hit the open road, take a quick read!

1. Don’t get stuck on the side of the road!

I’m pretty sure no one ever plans for their BMW, Mercedes, Audi, or any other vehicle to breakdown while away from home. But our staff at Advanced Auto Sports get calls all the time from people who are passing through Farmington Hills and unexpectedly breakdown. They and many others likely could have prevented that headache, unexpected (and expensive) repair, and lost time on their vacation had they made sure their car was ready for a road trip!

Before you leave town, give us a call at 248-471-2886 and set up a pre-trip inspection. We’ll do a thorough inspection of your European vehicle and make sure it is ready to hit the road. We’ll look at your oil, oil filter, other filters, windshield wipers, tires, brakes, and all other vital components that need to work well to get you to and from your destination.

2. Make special games/ traditions

After about an hour in, you might start hearing, “are we there yet?” Keep everyone entertained by creating some silly traditions, or “road rules.” For example, make a new tradition to learn everything you can about the state you are driving in. Whenever you enter a new state, look up famous people who have lived in that state, the state flower, state song, state motto, state flag, etc. Keep track of all the state license plates you can find. When you see an American flag, sing the national anthem on the top of your voices. Get creative and have fun!

3. Have a vehicle emergency kit in your European car at all times

This is a necessity that unfortunately, many overlook. Whether you are driving your Volkswagen, BMW, Land Rover, Mercedes-Benz, etc. around Farmington Hills, other areas of Michigan, or anywhere in the country, make sure you pack an emergency kit. This kit can be lifesaving if something unexpected happens or your car breaks down. You should have things like bottled water, a road map, granola bars, blankets, a fully inflated spare tire, jumper cables, and a flashlight in your vehicle emergency kit.

Whether you are leaving for a road trip or staying around Farmington Hills, the European vehicle experts at Advanced Auto Sports hope you have an incredible summer!
